X. OTHER ACTIVITIES IN THE REGION

A. SPORTING ACTIVITIES Should you feel you can bear to leave the glorious grounds of Château de Tourreau, there are a wealth of diversions just waiting outside the gates. The calm river waters of Fontaine de Vaucluse are a perfect location for trout fishing. Or guests can gently canoe down the river, absorbing the peaceful scenery, and have a picnic, prepared by the Chef, amongst the vineyards and orchards on the bankside. Cross-country riding, hiking, cycling and skiing on Mont Ventoux can be arranged, as can a round of golf on one of the several nearby courses. |

B. CULTURAL ACTIVITIES But Provence also has unique other experiences in store. Music lovers
will already know of the world-class operas and concerts that take
place in the region including in Aix-en-Provence, Vaison
la Romaine and Orange - where the concerts are held in
these latter two towns' historic Roman theatres. Then there is Avignon
well known for its Summer Arts Festival of films, theatre and street
performers held all over this famous old "papal" city. And there's also the typically Provencal
spectacle of bullfighting. In the stunning setting of two of the
most intact Roman arenas in France - Nimes and Arles
- you can watch the toreadors and the bulls act out their
timeless combat. |

C. SIGHTSEEING ACTIVITIES
Through the last 2500 years, because of its position as one of the cross roads of Northern and Southern Europe and particularly because of the Greek and then the Roman involvement in this part of France, there are all kinds of wonderful ruins, ancient villages, monuments, museums, dozens of medieval villages and towns and unchanged countryside to see and explore. The scenes below provide a modest foretaste of what is here in our region around Tourreau.
